Traveling by train can be quite romantic. Especially when passing through sprawling mountainsides and other stunning sceneries that nature has to offer. To make your train ride as enjoyable as possible, it’s best to plan and prepare well.
Train Raid – Planning
First thing to do is book your tickets. Always try to book early, if possible. If you book in advance, you might be able to get a discount.
In some countries, you can also reserve a seat—but of course, you will have to pay a little extra.
As well as booking your tickets early, it’s also worth thinking of how you can keep yourself pre-occupied throughout the journey.
Most people like to pass the time by reading on the train. But if it’s a particularly long trip, a book might not be enough to keep you entertained.
You can bring a journal that you can write into or a small board game that you can play with a friend. A laptop is also a great way to keep yourself busy.
If all else fails, just sit back, enjoy the scenery and allow your mind to wander. Who knows? You might actually end up thinking of something tremendously brilliant!
Train Raid – What to take
Travel light. Plan ahead and pack wisely. It’s not easy lifting heavy bags through narrow aisles.
You should also make sure your bags or suitcases have locks and identification labels.
Important items such as cash, credit cards, and passports should be kept in a smaller bag that you can strap to your shoulder.
Don’t forget to bring some snacks. Some trains don’t serve meals or sell food. Pack a few snack items such as sandwiches, fruits, and candies.
Water is very important, especially in the summer months. It’s important to stay hydrated during travel — especially young children and older people.
Last of all, bring plenty of cash with you. One of the golden rules of travelling is, always bring more than enough cash. There’s no way of telling when delays or emergencies might happen.
Wear comfortable clothes in Train Raid
It’s tempting to look stylish when travelling. But sometimes, the trendiest clothes can also be the most uncomfortable.
There are ways to look chic without sacrificing comfort. You can wear a light cotton shirt and a comfortable pair of jeans. Take a jacket in case the weather turns cold.
It’s not just your clothes that should be comfortable, but your shoes as well—especially your shoes. Pick a pair that you can easily slip in and out of. Wear thin socks if you have sweaty feet.
Be punctual while Train Raid
The absolute worst thing you can do is arrive late. Be at the station at least 30 minutes before departure time (at least ten minutes if you already booked in advance).
Don’t be one of those fools who ends up having to make a mad dash through the station. Being early also gives you time to buy snacks and whatever last-minute things you need before boarding.
Once on the train, always keep an eye on your belongings. However, don’t let the fear of losing valuables ruin your trip.
Take some time to relax and enjoy the scenery. Look around and don’t forget to be friendly to your fellow passengers. You just might make a new friend or two.
